| 03.11.2003 poupeau philippe (france) The room was nice, breakfast good.
Problem :
In the annex , there were no fire prevention : not alarm, not safe ligths,
not fire detection, room doors thin , etc..... |

| 13.10.2003 Madeleine and frank (Southampton) We were a bit unsure of the booking because of the Annex bit. We need not have worried. The annex is right next to the main hotel and actually more interesting as it is in an original tall Amsterdam house. The room was basic but very clean and very comfortable beds. The breakfast was served in the main hotel and there was loads of it. The staff were really friendly and gave us lots of good tips of where to go. They even booked us a meal at a local Italian restaurant which was superb. Thoroughly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay there again. |

| 07.10.2003 Madeleine (UK) Just stayed at Piet Hien Annex. We were a bit concerned about not staying in the main hotel but were so pleasantly surprised. The annex is situated more or less next door to the main hotal but in an original style Amsterdam house with very steep, narrow stairs. Very quaint but not ideal if you've had two too many. Nice clean but basic rooms with very comfy beds. Staff were so friendly - recommended lots of things to do and booked us a great Italian restaurant. We al l said we would have no hesitation to return to this very good value for money hotel. |

| 15.07.2003 Lynn (UK) A lovely hotel in a great location with friendly, helpful staff. The annex was clean and comfortable, but there was an unusual odour in our bathroom - dealt with using copious amounts of Impulse bodyspray. We would definitely stay at Piet Hein again, although we would treat ourselves to rooms in the main hotel. |

| 10.06.2003 Lisa (Ireland) THis hotel was perfect, perfect location, very clean, staying in the Annex was a great choice, we got to use all the facilities of the main hotel, lovely breakfast room, great bar and really friendly staff, for half the cost. Would highly recommend. And I am very particular! |

| 28.05.2003 keith & elaine (ireland) we stayed at this hotel and we really enjoyed it there was no tv ironin board or iron (when we asked at the reception the porter didnt know if there was one there or not) the pidgeon nesting outside our window woke us early .. other than that it was fine we would definately go back we are planning to go back to amsterdam hopefully next year and we wouldnt stay anywhere else the room was spotless clean the breakfast was great the street it was on was quiet.the staff were friendly & helpful so well done piet hein annex & we hope to see you next year |

| 27.05.2003 Tadpole (London) Good hotel. Annexe fine although had trouble making the soap dispensers working! My tip is to open them up and get at the soap holder inside!
Breakfast excellent. Will definitely recommend this hotel to others and will probably use it again myself. |

| 12.05.2003 B tierney (NYC) I was very happy with my hotel it was just what I needed, and very clean.I'll stay there again. |

| 10.04.2003 G D Herndon (Arkansas & Texas) Just got back from a two week trip to Europa and the Piet Hein was a bright star in my trip. I stayed in small Hotels on my trip and this was the best. It is everything the description says it is and staff is very nice and helpful. I will stay here again when in Amsterdam. |

| 27.03.2003 Sharon (UK) We stayed in room 516 which was overlooking the park. After reading some of the reviews on here, I was dreading going. However, room 516 was very big 4 beds in it. with on suite. Very nice room, I have paid more for less in other hotels.Basic, no TV, Phone or tea/coffee making facilities. We took our own kettle...But still fantastic and well worth the money. The only thing I didn't like was the first night, people coming in and slamming the door which our room was over. The stairs are quite steep, so if you have difficulties in climbing stairs, either avoid this hotel or asked to be placed on the first floor. Staff were very very friendly.
If you want to use a taxi to get you to the airport when you leave, then ask the hotel to get you a "special price" we paid 25 euro's when most taxi companies will charge more nearly double. Only because we had another taxi drivers card who would have only charged us 25 euro's. I would def recommend the hotel again, and am in the process of booking another trip to Amsterdam for this year. |

| 03.03.2003 Julie Ivanko (England) The annex was clean, warm and comfortable. It wqs basic and would have benefitted from a telephone line to the hotel as we had three nights of extremely noisy dutch men running up and down the corridor in the early hours of the mornings and as I was there with my daughters I did not feel I couldapproach them to keep the noise down. Therefore a telephone line to the hotel would have been of use. Otherwise we did not let this spoil out trip and we had a wonderful time. |

| 12.12.2002 harry & Aurora (Spain) We stayed at the Piet Hein Annex 7 nights at the beginning of Dec. I must say I was a bit shocked when I first saw the room, our spanish hotels are much better and cheaper!! Even a hostel in Spain is better equipped and ofcourse much much cheaper. Anyway, being positive people we decided we really didnґt need any more. The room actually needed painting, our closet was tiny and leaning sideways so we decided to leave our stuff in the suitcase. We must say that the hotel staff were all fantastic, Martin from the bar was great, enjoyed a few drinks with him every night when we came back exhausted from tromping the city. We met the owners who were also very nice. The breakfast was very good and all in all it was a great trip!!! |
| |
| 06.12.2002 Kevin (USA) I had a fine stay and the hotel was great. Besides that, I
thought it was a good location, etc. thank you. |
| |
| 03.12.2002 Claire & Alun (England) We stayed in the annex this weekend and although the facilities are incredibly basic (no TV or home comforts) it is ideally placed near to the main attractions. The staff are very friendly and helpful and will tell you everything you need to know. The museums are within a 5 minute walk and it overlooks the Vondelpark. We would definately come again but maybe spend the extra money to stay in the main hotel itself - watch for the stairs in the annex - you may need mountain climbing gear!! |

| 13.11.2002 Ian (South Wales) Had a great time, thanks!
The quad room we had at the annex was good. Basic, clean and in a quiet location.
The staff were excellent! Very helpful and friendly. Also, the breakfast was really good.
I would definitely stay at Piet Hein on my next visit. Sometime soon, I hope. |
| |
| 06.11.2002 Rob (UK) Room in the Annex, was very small, but adequate seeing as how i was a lone traveller, visiting Amsterdam for the first time. After all, what do you really need?...A bed..somewhere for clothes, and a shower..all of which this place had. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the continental breakfast next door in the Piet Hein Hotel was also very nice, in very comfortable surroundings.
Very quiet in the evenings...away from the hustle and bustle...but town centre only 15 - mins walk. Only critiscism....a lttle expensive for a sparse room. |
| |
| 22.10.2002 Morris (Minneapolis, MN USA) Very nice staff and a great breakfast. A rather austear room with not a picture on the wall but I'd stay again with no hesitation. Thanks! |
| |
| 21.10.2002 Vikki (Oxford, England) The Piet Hein Annex is great for people on a budget. The hotel is beautiful and staff are friendly, and even though you have to walk a few yards down the street and up steep stairs (very common in Amsterdam) to get to your annex room, that is just as lovely - even elegant. The only down side is that there was no TV. The hotel is situated well for everything in the city. The best part of the hotel's service was breakfast - a truly Dutch experience. |
| |
| 20.10.2002 Alison Waites (England) A really great value for money hotel. Clean, Friendly, Good Food and well situated. We loved Amsterdam and intend to return and we will definately go back to this Hotel. |
| |
| 17.10.2002 Dan Murphy (U.S.A) Very friendly staff except for the guy who thinks he's sean connery. The room was nice and clean. Clogged shower, no t.v, no alarm clock. The beds were 2 singles pushed into one so it was a little hard to work with if you know what I mean. very steep stairs coming in from the street. All in all I give it 2 satrs which is exactly what it is. had a great time. |

| 01.10.2002 Christina (Norman, Oklahoma USA) Well, I had reservations for a single bed at the Annex of the Piet Hein Hotel, but ended up changing it to stay at the actual Hotel. It was just a little too small for me (I'm sure it's better for a double). I just went to the lobby and was like, "Please can I get a room here?" They were very cool about getting me a new room, and it really wasn't that much more money at all. I just fell in love with the hotel and wanted to stay in there. And my room was gorgeous! My friends stayed at a place close to there that cost about the same but was not nearly as nice. I had a balcony and even a bathtub...Gorgeous. And the staff was so wonderfully sweet to me; I ended up staying there 3 extra nights because I just didn't want to ever leave that place! I would most definitely stay there again! Oh, and the breakfast was wonderful! EVen if you stay at the annex, you get the same breakfast and very friendly staff. Have fun in Amsterdam!! |

| 28.08.2002 alex (uk) we enjoyed our trip very much. It is true that the hotel next door is a lot more luxurious that the Annex but we got to have a cheap room and still enjoy the comforts of the pricier place. Room is basic but it is perfectly fine and comfortable. Great breakfast. We would stay there again. |
