Hotel Description

Opened in 1992, Hotel Citadel is situated in Amsterdam's city center steps away from the Central Station and the Royal Palace on Dam Square. Many tourist attractions and museums are situated near the Citadel Hotel such as Jordaan, the old neighborhood with many galleries, art houses and antique shops as well as a weekly market. The hotel's friendly atmosphere and modern interior offer visitors exceptional comfort. The 38 stylish rooms each have private facilities (with a bath or shower, toilet and hair dryer), a color TV, an in-house movie channel, CNN and a phone with a direct outside line. Safety deposit boxes are available at the reception desk. An elevator services all floors. The hotel’s staff is very attentive. Hearty Dutch breakfast is served at the hotel’s breakfast room. Buffet breakfast, all taxes and service charges are included in the quoted rate. Please note that this hotel does not accept single night bookings on Friday or Saturday.

This is a wonderful hotel. The location is key as Amsterdam Centraal, DamSquare, and The Red Light District are all within 5 minutes walk. The breakfast service was great and the staff very friendly (especially two receptionists in particular, I think their names were Yellie and Leny, both with a great sense of humor). Their reasonable prices and comfortable room made my stay in The Netherlands a vacation I'll not soon forget.

Excellent location! Close to all the tourist attractions, we walked to them all, but the trams go right by the hotel if you want to use them. Loads of quiet little cafes, restaurants and bars near by, to the east, or the loud busy ones to the west. Friendly helpful staff. Lovely breakfast. Rooms are very nice and had everything you need. Only complaint was the double bed was two singles pushed together, but that's no big thing. We'll definitely stay there on our next visit, a great spot!

The hotel was very much as described by Sasha. The staff were helpful and friendly, the rooms were clean and comfortable and the continental breakfast was a substantial start to the day. The hotel is located a few hundred metres (yards) from Central Station. As such it is most convenient for visiting the sights of Amsterdam such as the Van Gogh museum, Anne Frank House etc..The combination of the hotel, easy access to trams and the ability to walk to many of the sights - there are plenty of good local restaurants, made our stay in Amsterdam very enjoyable.

Hotel is very well located & near Centrum train & tram. Rooms were clean and free from smokers. Breakfast is typical, but no sweets (danish, doghnuts, crossoins, etc.) Get tea, as coffee is dark & heavy & slightly bitter. This is still worth a stay. We will return here again.

The hotel is neither stylish nor exceptionally comfortable. It is, however, comfortable, clean and quiet and serves a very adequate breakfast. The location of the hotel is simply great, right in the center and within walking distance of everything. Yet when you return to your room at night the hotel suffers no outside noise.

Great location and adequate buffet breakfast. The only negative thing is the boisterous housekeeping from 9.30--too much if you have sampled Amsterdamґs great nightlife and want to sleep peacefully. Staff shout at each other across floors, bangloudly on doors and roar through them to rouse those who dare to sleep beyond 9.30 and are very keen to get their job done ruthlessly. Even if you put up the ґdo not disturbґsign, you still hear them wreaking havoc all over the building. I experienced this for four mornings and decided to move to another hotel rather than prolong my stay in this one. A warning too if you are not a slender willowy creature:the beds in the single rooms are the narrowest Iґve ever seen! But Amsterdam is a topclass city and this hotel, like many others, puts you right in the centre of things. PS Thereґs a very nice little pizzeria with great prices a few doors down from the hotel on the left.
