12.04.2004 Flynn and Karen (Los Angeles, California) The Avenue Hotel was clean and very well maintained. The housekeeping staff were friendly and cordial. The "all you can eat" buffet breakfast was bountiful and very tasty. What we didn't like about the Hotel was the fact that there was cigarette odor and smoking in the lobby area all the time. It was totally disgusting and unbearable. We had to hold our breath to check-in (and when we came in and out of the hotel). But fortunately our room had no cigarette odor. We figure the Dutch don't believe the scientific proof that "second hand" smoke causes many deaths. Other than that, the city of Amsterdam was beautiful and clean. The restaurant food prices were average - to high priced. The prices of the most common souvineer (T-shirts) were outrages!! (approx. $20.00 USD each) We ate a lot of mediterranean cuisine (it was cheap, yet tasty and filling). The store owners were so nice, especially a guy named Matt (from Texas) who runs "The Hemp store". He was fantastic! He gave us great deals on home-made "hemp" soap and hemp purses. He had very unique products in his store. The train ride from the airport to the city was comfortable. Walking throughout the city is easy. We found it to be the best way to see everything. The canal cruise was relaxing too. We suggest vistors take that one hour canal cruise around the city (it was only 6 euros per person). We got some great photos. The local (chain) grocery store, Albert Thein (?) only accepts cash (euros)$$$, but you can get better deals on bottled water and biscuits (cookies) and chocolate candies than in the gift shops. Overall, Amsterdam is a great place to visit (at least once in a life time).

06.07.2003 Mugs (Huddersfield, England) The rooms were exactly what you need for a stay in this Excelent city. They were clean, spacious and had everything you could need. The hotel was situated close to all needs e.g. Station, tourist areas and the main part of Amsterdam. It would be my first choice if i'm ever alowed back(LOL)

| 16.06.2003 Hugh (Dublin) Good facilities, excellent breakfast, to set you up for the day's sightseeing. Central to everyehere.
Ask for a room not directly onto the main street as the trams start very early in the morning and are quite loud. |

| 02.06.2003 jwilly (Mississippi) If you need convienence from the central train station and the coffee bar/red light district this is a perfect hotel for a mediocre price. The breakfast is great with plenty of variety to get your morning started. The hotel is very clean and the front desk service is excellent. They helped us with Tram tickets and a day trip from a nearby agency. We also bought tickets to the Van Gogh at the hotel, which saved us a longer wait.
One suggestion, don't worry about airport/hotel transfer unless you have tons of baggage, the train runs from the airport (inside) to the central station. |

27.05.2003 GRAHAM (LONDON) A great place to stay, convenient for all areas of the city. Comfortable, clean rooms. Breakfast is to be recommended. It sets you up for a day of exploring.

| 23.04.2003 Darren Bentley (Lancashire) Ideally situated hotel just five minutes walk from Dam Square, Railway Station and Red Light District.
Bedrooms adequate, if a little dated. But no complaints - if it's five star you are after better up the budget!!.
All in all, a great deal for the money.

11.03.2003 Steve (Leeds, West Yorks, UK.) Very pleasant, comfortable hotel. Basic facilities but couldn't complain as the price paid was more than fair. Easy walk from central station, easy access to some of the major tourist attractions. Friendly staff, reasonable price for a pint of heineken!! Would definitely recommend.

11.11.2002 The Ox (Wales, UK) A nice and clean hotel with very friendly & helpful staff. The room I had was VERY small however, when in Amstedam you shouldnt be in the room that much. I would recommend the hotel but would request a large room if you plan to spend any time there.

11.11.2002 Chris (Melbourne Australia) The hotel was great. Very handy to the station and very handy to all the main sights of Amsterdam. The only complaint was the staff were a little disinterested at times, but you get that at some hotels. The best thing is the breakfast that is included in the price of the rooms. A great buffet, and a good way to load up on your day of walking around the city. If cafe's are your go, you have many in close proximity. If like me and a small restaurant and shopping experience is more your thing, then the Jordaan and Nine streets is very close walking distance and worth checking out. Will stay again

05.10.2002 Mark and Marina (Central coast, USA) This hotel is definitely worth the price (the price is very reasonable) and has a very good breakfast included. Although all of Amsterdam is pretty much a smoking society, the room we had didn't smell badly at all. Further more, it is as close to the action as you would want and still be able to sleep well at night. We have traveled alot and this is one review that deserves being written with acolades. Well done Avenue Hotel.

07.08.2002 RJH (Singapore) Great location, friendly helpful staff, room spacious with large loft our 2 13yr old boys loved. Downsides - very hot (no aircon) means need earplugs to sleep well because of street noise.

19.07.2002 Arry (England) We booked a quad room and thought that the size was reasonable. We would have like a kettle but you cant have everything. The staff were polite and helpful, even quite funny at times.

04.07.2002 Stevie Rea (Co. Armagh (UK)) First Impressions? Small room, but then who goes to Amsterdam and sits in their room?? This hotel is amazing!! I first used it on business, I was at a conference, and I fell in love with them place. The staff are polite and funny as f*ck if you are having a drink at the bar. If 'Coffee-Shops' are more your thing, this crib is bang in the middle of them all. The Aroza is 5 minute walk away, OK so it's 15 or 20 the way back. If an early breakfast aint your thing, BArny's is 10 mins away, and well worth it for the brekkie. BIG Ulster frys' all 'around

02.07.2002 Bernie (Ireland) This hotel is in a really fantastic location, close to everything - shopping, sights, resturaunts, canal-site cafes etc. Although the rooms are amazingly small, I would use it again as it is clean, the staff are friendly, breakfasts are good & the bar is nice for a relaxing drink at the end of a busy day exploring the city.

10.06.2002 Rich & Leanne (Cheshire, UK) We were VERY inpressed with the Avenue Hotel!!! It was easy to find, you can walk everywhere, comfy beds and spotless. The breakfast was fantastic,(bacon, eggs, sausages etc...) it's worth getting up early for!! We would definately stay here the next time we visit Amsterdam.

05.06.2002 DMT (Scotland) Enjoyed our short break immensely. We couldn't have picked a more central hotel. accommodation was very good. i would go again to the avenue but I'd take a travel kettle next time

04.06.2002 Trish (Ottawa, Canada) The location of the hotel was terrific. The hotel was clean and comfortable although the rooms were small. We didn't get the double bed we asked for, just two single beds pushed together.

| 29.05.2002 Ian Ewart (UK) Thanks hotel Avenue was ideal for the weekend we had in mind , away from the lime light ,
not to far though , room was clean & spaceous for the 4 of us |

21.03.2002 Devid Perrior (UK) Very comfortable Hotel.Room was a little on the small side but sufficient for our needs. It is situated close enough to everything to be easy to walk to, and far enough away from the bustle to be quiet. All in all a very good choice and one which I would not hesitate to return to

21.03.2002 Dave (London) Ideally situated Hotel, near enough to everything to walk there, but far enough from the bustle to be pleasant.

04.10.2001 rudy (UK) very good hotel! no problems there. would recommend to others.

25.09.2001 megan (US) This was a wonderful, wonderful trip! The hotel was an excellent choice. We could walk everywhere and the rooms were nice. My husband loved the big breakfast!
