Excellent place to stay!! When we booked we weren't sure what

19.03.2007 Elizabeth Glackin (Scotland Glasgow)
Excellent hotel total value for money, when we originally booked we thought it would be very basic however we were pleasantly surprised, the hotel was clean with fresh towels & maid in daily, very reasonable and in nice place of Amsterdam near enough everywhere but quiet too. Staff are very friendly & we would definetly stay at Acro when visiting again. P.S. There was nine of us.

24.10.2004 Helen (Scotland)
This hotel was everything the web-site says...near the museums, clean, comfy and the staff were very friendly..as were all people in Amsterdam. Missed a tea/coffee facility in the room though.

08.09.2004 sue wedekind (england)
very good location for the Cultural Festival in Augsust. Stairs were very steep but lift available. Staff efficient but curt Breakfast badly organised on 2 out of 3 occasions ran out of eggs and replacement slow. Beds too small for anyone over 6 foot (1.90).

02.08.2004 Dave (England)
Hotel is in a good position for city attractions, you can walk everywhere from here. Rooms clean and breakfast good. Problem we had was in the room allocation though. The hotel has a 24hr bar and room 111 is right next door - guess which one we had! First nights sleep wasn't very good as all noise seems to be transmitted through the wall and the bed frame that is attached to it. Complained to reception who said they would "have a word" with night staff. Waste of time - it was worse the following night! Rang reception at 2am to complain, nodded off at around 2:30, woken again at 4:30 rang reception again at around 5am. Changed room to 112 for final night. This establishment has to decide if it's a 24hr drinking den or a hotel. Adjoining wall the other side so thin you could hear every word in the room next door - including where they were planning to hide their credit card when they went out!

Hotel Acro is great. Right next to museums, great restaurants, pubs, and clubs. The rooms have an authentic feel in a nice building. I highly recommend it.

27.06.2004 Brett Robinson (West Midlands, England)
I found this hotel perfect as the price was really good and the staff were very pleasant and helpful. It is located in the nice side of town and is only minutes from the main town and nightlife.

17.05.2004 Ibsen (Denmark)
Nice and clean Hotel, perfect location, freindly staff

24.04.2004 Gary (Manchester, UK)
Very well situated, clean and tidy, compact hotel. Stairs upto Reception and down to basement rooms can be tricky when you have had a skinful. Staff are friendly and helpful. Will not hesitate to stay in this Hotel next time I am in Amsterdam.

18.04.2004 Emma & Karen (Yorkshire)
Decided to book this hotel after all the other favourable comments we read. They were all true. The rooms are small but are clean and the space was used wisely. The stairs are something else and I only risked once (bit accident prone). Excellent for tram stop and art museums, only a short walk or tram ride away from liedseplein and the night life. Heineken brewery 5 -10 walk away but a must see. If we go again will stay here.

13.04.2004 Janet (Edinburgh)
Lovely hotel, great location. Recommended and very good value for money. Would return very happily.

15.03.2004 Traveler / RO (Romania)
I had a VERY little room that had the elevator at the doorway and a shared wall with the bar room. I couldn't sleep, day or night, and they said all other rooms were full. The room was not clean and there were no soaps or something like that. For 90E / night you would have expected a little more than that.... However the location is great.

18.12.2003 Richard & Heather (North Lincolnshire, UK)
Stayed here a year ago and it's still a good, basic hotel. Good location for tram and excellent Italian Restaurant 2 minutes walk. Room small but comfortable and clean. Noisy at 4am with two or three other residents talking in loud voices outside their room. Apart from that I'd stay there again.

24.11.2003 Clare (Brussels)
I'm glad I only had a two night stay as the room was tiny and very basic. The best thing about this hotel is its location within a stone's throw of the Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh Museum and Leidseplein. Big problem on my first night with noise in the hotel from other residents and staff with the fire alarm going off accidentally at about 3am!! I'm surprised at the fact that so many of the other reviews mention friendly staff as I found them extremely unfriendly and curt.

18.11.2003 Tony G (Reading, Berks.)
Nice Hotel in great location. Good room for a single and had as usual a great stay in Amsterdam. Would recommend the Hotel and a stay in midweek is nice compared to the really busy weekends.

08.10.2003 William & Thomas (Lanarkshire Scotland)
We had a lovely time for the third year our first staying in the acro very clean and staff helpful very small rooms but comfortable and in very nice residential area. The double bed was small but comfortable.

05.09.2003 Helen (UK)
We had a great stay at Hotel Acro. Our cosy room was clean and well stocked with towels and the staff were friendly and helpful. The all night bar is definitley a bonus too! The hotel is a short walk from the museums and from the city centre (there is also a fantastic Indonesian restaurant round the corner called Sama Sebo). We found it great value for money and will be booking it for our next trip to Amsterdam soon. I would reccoment it to anybody visiting Amsterdam.

29.07.2003 ibbo1 (Milton Keynes)
The staff are incredibly friendly and helpfull without being condescending. Room very good, breakfast good too. However as a part time wheelchair user the 'couple of steps' to the entrance turned out to be 11!!!!!!!!! and the breakfast room was down another 10!!!!!!!!!, this time more like a ladder too. The staff did offer me breakfast in the bar but that means it's difficult to manage a buffet and the bar is a smoking area! I was able to manage with a struggle but some one else could be caught out.

20.07.2003 G.Leacy (Lancashire)
Excellent location for the museum district of Amsterdam and within easy reach of the centre of the city. The staff were efficient, helpful and friendly. The room, although small, was clean and well supplied with towels etc. The breakfasts were very good.If we ever visit Amsterdam again the Hotel Acro will be our first choice. Beware of the stairs! Fortunately the lift was very convenient.

08.07.2003 Lloyd (Los Angeles)
Hotel Acro is very nice. It is in a nice building very close to the Rijk's museum and Van Gogh museum. It's easy to walk around the whole city from there. The rooms were clean and the service good. I recommned it for any traveler.

07.07.2003 Jana Groff (Austria)
Just returned from my trip - Acro is a perfect place to stay in Amsterdam! We took advantage of their all night bar especially as they have recently lowered the prices for drinks! There is good beer and lots of young people - everything you would need to assure a sociable evening at the hotel! We also took advantage of the elevator since the steep stairs are too dangerous to climb when you are back from bars.. Would definitely erturn and recommend to others!

03.07.2003 laurence burke (dublin ireland)
What a wonderful hotel. Staff were so friendly, room lovely. The people in this hotel really made our stay very enjoyable .

01.07.2003 steve and julie (southampton)
Had a very nice stay, hotel staff friendly, room very clean, bar very handy stayed open as long as we wanted it too. Will book there again if we return to Amsterdam

20.06.2003 Thelma (Leeds UK)
Hotel very clean but we were at the very top in an attic bedroom which was very small. The stairs are very steep although there is a lift but on our arrival we could not use it as the fire alarm had gone off. I am glad I did not have to ascend or descend the stairs all the time. Otherwise very good and the breakfast buffet was adequate.

19.06.2003 Carol & Chris Hart (Glasgow, Scotland)
Stayed for 4 days in June 2002 - going back next week! Very good value for money and room was spotless. Only downside was baby cot wasn't set up when we arrived and we had to ask twice for it to be brought up. That was the only glitch in a super stay. Hope our stay next week is as good!

28.05.2003 sammy (los angeles)
I was delighted when I saw how nice my room was. The hotel location was ideal; right around the corner from the Van Gogh Museum. Highly recommend the Hotel Acro and plan to stay there on my next visit.

30.04.2003 Elizabeth (USA)
We greatly enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Acro. The rooms are clean, and ours was sufficiently roomy, but they are somewhat lacking in ambience. However, the location is terrific and the staff are helpful.

27.04.2003 alan.smith (Troon Scotland)
Had a great stay at Hotel Acro, staff friendly and helpful hotel clean and tidy. All you could ask for in a short stay hotel. When in Amsterdam again we will use this hotel if possible. Thanks again for the stay and arrangements. Alan.A. Smith.

18.04.2003 Phil Harrison (England)
Hi, Stayed there for four nights in April 2003. The room was good, great staff with a decent breakfast. It's in a good location for the museums, Leidesplein, Vondelpark and the tram stop is closeby for trips further afield. We would stay there again. We only had one drink in the hotel bar. It's expensive.

17.04.2003 Lorraine (London, England)
The Hotel Acro was a very pleasant surprise. A well-situated hotel with all the necessary amenities at a budget price. The staff were great as well. I will definetly recommened it to others.

09.04.2003 Mr & Mrs Gregory (England)
A very pleasant stay. Our room at the top of the house was small but comfortable, and very clean and fresh, and Staff were pleasant. My only complaint is that there were no tea-making facilities in the room.

27.03.2003 CHRIS AND TOM (BRIGHTON UK)
FOUND HOTEL CLEAN AND COMFORTABLE ROOMS VERY NARROW STAFF VERY HELPFULL BREAKFAST EXCELLENT WATCH OUT FOR THE STAIRS, IMPOSSIBLE TO CLIMB WHEN YOU HAVE BEEN OUT ON THE TOWN, THANK GOD FOR THE LIFT. IN QUIET AREA OF CITY PUBLIC TRANSPORT AT BOTTOM OF ROAD AMSTERDAM WOT A CITY:::::::

13.03.2003 Valerie (UK)
Hi! We have just come back from Amsterdam. Hotel was excellent value very friendly. Location could not have been better.

06.03.2003 kate (cambridge, UK)
me and some friends stayed here the other week - the hotel is fantastically situated, right next to the van gogh and rijksmuseum, in a really nice area with local shops, restuarants and a big park, plus its only a short walk into town. staff were really friendly, breakfast was good, nice bar etc. our room was a bit pokey to say the least, but very clean and a great shower. my friend's room upstairs was lovely - much more spacious and also clean and fresh etc. if/when i go back to amsterdam, i will definately stay here again

04.03.2003 NoÊmie (Switzerland)
The hotel is really very nice, rooms are well sized and comfortable. People at the reception are friendly and ready to give all kind of information about the city. Busses are 1 min from the hotel and go directly to the center town. I really recomend you this lovely hotel !! Have a nice trip!!

01.03.2003 steve (olympia, wash., usa)
Stayed at Hotel Arco twice in 2002, July and September. Good location. Decent rooms. Close to everything. Good price. I would stay there again anytime.

25.02.2003 Joe and Liz (Banchory)
Comfortable and pleasant hotel well situated for city centre - very close to Van Goch Museum and Rijksmuseum and Heinneken Brewery. Steep stairs but a lift is available. Nice beakfast in the Dutch Style. Helpful and pleasant staff. Good Italian reataurant nearby.

12.02.2003 Lynne Vance (Bangor Co Down Northern Ireland)
Excellent hotel - perfect position everything within walking distance. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Would definately recommend to anyone and will certainly stay there again. Amsterdam was wonderful!

24.01.2003 Sharon (Clayton, Manchester, U.K.)
Had a really good time in the Dam! Hotel Acro (though only 2 star)was great! Much more than expected!Travelling alone as single female, no crap!Reasonably priced rooms, small and compact, but tasteful and clean! Would definately recommend to friends and family and will definately re-bookupon my next visit!Very close to central and good access to local ameneties! Some great views! Enjoy!

21.01.2003 sue (Hertfordshire UK)
Had a pleasant stay here. Staff very friendly and helpful, plenty of choice of food at breakfast. Very convenient for everything. Would definitely stay again.

20.01.2003 Heather & Richard (Barrow Upon Humber, England)
We would definitely recommend this hotel as we will be staying there next time we go to Amsterdam. The rooms are basic but comfortable (all you really need as you don't need to spend much time in your hotel when there is so much to see in Amsterdam!) and the staff very friendly. Breakfast was very good but the toaster needs repairing as we speak. Two minutes to the tram stop at the end of the road where numbers 2 and 5 will take you to Dam Square for 1.60 Euros each. There is also an airport shuttle bus that stops right outside the hotel and takes only 30 minutes to get to the airport for around 10 Euros each. Don't miss the Heineken Museum!!

10.12.2002 Ralph (Glasgow)
This hotel was perfect for a visit to amsterdam

16.11.2002 thefitzgerald (Ireland)

30.10.2002 Susan H (Highlands of Scotland)
Good clean and friendly hotel. Excellent choice for breakfast. Would stay again.

27.10.2002 Sten J. Holm (Canada)
I enjoyed my stay at the hotel Acro. The room was extremely small, but nice and clean; the bathroom and shower fully modern and fonctionel, though I simply hated the cheep toiletpaper. The staff were friendly and helpful. As the hotel is really well situated, close to museums and very good restaurants, we really like to recommend it.

22.10.2002 Willa (Laguna Beach CA, USA)
Great location, nice room, helpful people, lots of young people at breakfast, and great price.

21.10.2002 John Murphy (Woodley, UK)
A clever use of limited space has resulted in smallish rooms that are nevertheless clean, airy and more than acceptable for a short stay. Be prepared to make new friends as the lift is also optimally sized, the alternative is to take the stairs but this would mean you taking your life in your hands as they are winding and almost vertical, certainly not advisable the morning after a sociable previous evening. Staff are friendly and the location is ideal with a reasonable walk to the town centre or tram stops close at hand. Would certainly recommend it for a short break.

14.10.2002 Darren (Preston, England)
Ideally situated for trams with stop at top of the road. Close to Van Gogh Museum for that culture kick. Rooms clean and tidy and maintained on a daily basis. Breakfast good and plentiful. Make use of the airport connection bus when you depart - cheap enough at 10 euros and picks you up outside the door. Would recommend Hotel Acro to anyone - keep up the good work!!

09.10.2002 MICHELLE (LONDONDERRY N.IRELAND)
Hotel Arco is a clean friendly hotel. One downside is that it was a double room but with 2 single beds, which were comfortable. We went out for the day and came back to find that our beds were made for us and our rooms cleaned. What more do you need.Everything is in walking distance.Amsterdam is an EXCELLENT place to go even for a couple of days.We are going back next year for 3 or 4 days and will be sure to book Arco Hotel to stay.

02.10.2002 pat (ireland)
stay here last yr nice place, going back again

23.09.2002 Gill and Steven (UK)
Hi and thank you for your mail. We had a very enjoyable stay at Acro and will be booking with them again on our next visit. Thanks for everything.

21.09.2002 Gill & Stevie (Bo'ness, Scotland.)
We had a very enjoyable stay at Acro. We thought the drink at the bar was a bit on the expensive side but other than that, no complaints. Ideally situated for the trams, stops at end of road. Good variety for breakfast and room was clean & tidy. Staff pleasant enough but one. We will definitely book Acro for our next visit.

11.09.2002 Elaine (Dundee, Scotland)
Couldn't complain about the cleanliness of the hotel, but the room was basic and very very small.

07.09.2002 alison (liverpool)
very good location, close to bars, restauraunts etc but not close enough to hear them! Friendly staff, clean hotel. Only downsides, very small room, I kept banging my head on the telly. Also very steep stairs! A problem when you've been out at the bars!

04.09.2002 Kevin (Bo'ness, Scotland)
The Acro was an extremely good hotel in an excellent & quiet setting but near the tram stop at the end of the street for quick access to the main parts of interest in the DAM. The staff were very competent but only downside was the price of beer in the hotel. A bit excessive guys!!!

01.09.2002 Tim & Rhi (UK)
The room was small, but not too small. We stayed in a double room, and were expecting a double bed, but there were 2 singles -(isnt this a twin room?). There were crumbs of food on the floor when we first got there, and a chemical smell which we got used to, on the landing. The cleaner walked in on us a few times without knocking, which was probably the main fault about this hotel. On the plus side, it was nevertheless pretty comfortable, with a good shower (which does come on very hot to start off). The breakfast is also good -continental style. The location is good aswell, right by the Rijksmuseum, not far from the Leidseplein. We had a great time in Amsterdam, you could probably do a lot worse than stay here for the same money.

27.08.2002 SFB (Reading,England)
Good clean accomodation. Stayed in twin bed room with en-suite facilities which was cramped but that seems the norm for Amsterdam. No problems with arrangements and staff very friendly. Would definately stay here again.

27.08.2002 Laura (UK)
great location, round the corner from stedelijk, rijkes, and van gogh. also, park around the corner kept my daughter happy! breakfasts good, small room, dodgy shower. have a beef about the booking though - was given the option of a double bed and single in a triple room, booked it, then found out only single beds! not happy. would stay again though having said that.

15.08.2002 Claire T (N.Ireland)
I stayed in the Hotel Acro for 7 nights and had a very pleasant stay. This is a lovely hotel with all the neccesities required for a chilled out break. The staff where helpful, the rooms although compact where very clean. Towels where changed every day if you wanted them to be and beds made up lovely every day. I would reccommend this hotel to those who are holidaying on a budget.

06.08.2002 Ke (USA)
Acro is OK. Staff is competent.

04.08.2002 Laura (Midlands UK)
A good hotel, what we expected for the money. The rooms a little on the small side if you are staying for more than a few days. A very good location from which to explore, breakfast - excellent. One word of warning, however..... The hot water is boiling. I had the misfortune of turning the shower the wrong way, and subsequently suffered some pretty nasty scold burns. Whoops! Had to seek medical attention. Please beware, especially little children. That said, still a good visit.

02.08.2002 The Us Electric (USA)
This hotel was very conveniently located near all of the major shopping and clubbing areas. The staff was very friendly. We had clean and comfortable rooms, and we enjoyed a 24 hour bar/cafe.

02.08.2002 Stuart (Brighton UK)
This hotel was excellent. The location is superb with art galleries and a park nearby.

30.07.2002 Abdul Sayed Mahmud (Pakistan)
very very nice nice hotel liked it very much enjoyed our stay excellent hotel would recommend to anyone to other families and friends high quality nive rooms good breakfast superb location unbelievable rates would definitely return.

24.07.2002 Erik de Lambert (San Francisco, California, U.S.A.)
This hotel is a real find! What a pleasant surprise to discover that it truly is nearly adjacent to the National Museum as well as the Van Gogh Museum. And about 75 meters from the tram stop to take you just about anywhere in Amsterdam.

20.07.2002 Annie (Aberdeen)
THIS IS A GREAT HOTEL. CLEAN, MODERN AND IN A NICE AREA NEAR LOTS OF ATTRACTIONS. ALL NIGHT BAR!! NEED I SAY MORE. BEST I HAVE FOUND IN AMSTERDAM.

18.07.2002 Steve Valandra (Olympia, Washington, USA)
Comfortable clean room and quiet. The hotel is easily reached from Centraal Station by tram 2 or 5. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a bargain in Amsterdam.

18.07.2002 AM (Scotland)
Very basic accomodation but clean and central to the centre of Amsterdam.

11.07.2002 Roberta (Northern Ireland)
Very good value. Hotel is right next to Van Gogh Museum, Riksmuseum & Leidseplein(outdoor eating - great atmosphere). Room excellent - clean & quiet, compact but very good use of available space. Clean very modern (if compact!) bathroom. Staff friendly. Will use next time i'm in in Amsterdam.

01.07.2002 Sandra (Brighton, UK)
Location is excellent, rooms v. clean, staff friendly and helpful - great little bar open till late - a very pleasant surprise and will definately stay there again

24.06.2002 Barb (Edwardsville, IL USA)
Good hotel for the price. Definitely a 2 star-no frills place. Great breakfast. Quiet, clean rooms and good showers. The staff was very helpful. Good location near a mall with restaurants and entertainment. Take a shuttle from the airport. We went from train to trolley and that was confusing.

10.06.2002 Mr & Mrs Cowan (UK)
We had a lovely trip. The Hotel Acro was very well located. The room was fine, breakfast was very good, staff were very pleasant and helpful. In all, a very good hotel, which we would recommend to others.

07.06.2002 GARY (NEW YORK)
Stayed there 1 night. Ideal location.

31.05.2002 Paul Acheson (United Kingdom)
We were pleasantly suprised by the standards at this hotel. It was excellent value for money, clean, comfortable and in an excellent location. We are already considering staying here again.

16.05.2002 John (United States)
Great hotel for the money. Fantastic location. Much quieter location than other places we have stayed closer to the center of Amsterdam. Easy to get anywhere in the city from this location. Room was very clean and bed was comfortable. Verly pleased overall.

03.05.2002 Georgia (North Carolina, USA)
This was a great hotel for a very reasonable price. The people were helpful, the room was clean and lovely and the location can't be beat. Thanks!

29.04.2002 Roz (Scotland)
The Hotel Acro is clean and friendly. Very glad it has a lift though, as the stairs are rather formidable. A good value for money stay! Room was compact but well laid out - breakfast was plentiful with a good variety of choices. Ideally situated for the town centre - 20 min walk or regular tram ride. Will certainly choose this hotel next time I visit Amsterdam.

10.04.2002 Moorhouse ( England)
I thought that the hotel was very clean and the staff wwas very friendly. Although the cleaning products did smell like stale alcohol which is not good after a late night on the booze. The breakfast was very good with a wide choice. I would stay at this hotel again. Although next time i might take my ear plugs as the walls were paper thin.

22.02.2002 marianne wassenborg (United States)
I had a great trip. Everything went perfectly according to plan. My friend arrived much earlier then expected at the hotel, due to getting a straight flight to Amsterdam, and the concierge let her occupy the room by 10.30 A.M., which was very much appreciated. Everyone was great.

15.02.2002 Antony Hunt (UK)
We had a smashing time in Amsterdam, although we found that we did not have enough time to see all that we wanted to. The Hotel Acro was comfortable but we were a little disappointed to find that we had been booked into a twin room when we were under the impression that we had booked a double. This was not too much of a problem as we were only staying for two nights, but if our stay had been for any longer this would not have been acceptable. We do plan to revisit Amsterdam in early September and after our recent stay at the Hotel Acro will no doubt consider staying there again.

03.02.2002 Keith Wilson (Preston,England)
Enjoyed our stay here very much. The hotel is very conveniently situated close to several of the attractions and the nightlife of the Leidelsplein area. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Would certainly consider staying here again.

05.12.2001 hassan shirazi (Austira)
I was pleasantly surprised. This hotel was way more that what I expected for the price. Will definetly stay there again!
